After you have completed your 1st degree reiki course, should you wish to continue your learning and to treat members of the public, you will have to enrol on, and complete a 2nd degree reiki course, to become a reiki practitioner. This is a prerequisite set by the insurance companies which support and insure practitioners and reiki federations.
In order to learn how to train practitioners, you must enrol on and complete the RMT (Reiki Master Teacher) degrees, which numerically, are 3rd and 4th degrees, relative to the earlier practitioner level. These courses are much more detailed than the previous 2 and contain all the teaching required to learn, practice and deliver all of the reiki connection, attunement and empowerment rituals involved in all levels of reiki.

If you intend to treat the public with reiki, you must have attained at least 2nd degree training, or the insurance cmpanies will refuse to give you cover. Once you have attained RMT and completed your practice, you will be able to teach all levels of reiki including the RMT degrees. You will be given information on pre-treatment assessment, reiki federations and insurance within your couse study at 2nd degree level.
